ESRP Chapter One

=He tried to stand, still clutching the wound, but fell to his knees again=

Damnit... How could I be so foolish!?

=The blood continued to pour, forming a pool on the floor. He breathed heavily=




=Aije came along the roads and eventually saw the assassin as he came around a bend=

Gnaeus approaches the fallen knight, he kneels beside him. Without a word he puts his calloused hand on the Knight's shoulder, and another over his claw clutching the wound.

Yeah. Told you we should have just taken a carriage.

I stand up and wait for the wizard to catch on up to me.

At the very far end of the road I saw a small burning pillar turn the corner. Which is definitely strange out in the rain.
My curiousity for this oddity gives me a slight boost, making me walk a little faster.

=He looked up at the Altmer, his helmet hiding his expression=

Come to.. Agh... Finish me off, have you?

His face expressionless, he began to work his restoration magic on the foreigner. His hands glowed with healing light, and as the foreigners wound healed, he stood up.

=He grabbed around, looking for the Wound. It was not there. He stood, still a bit sore=

You're a Healer. Impressive, that wound might have killed me if left alone.

Gnaeus bowed slightly and began to walk away. He was uncertain of the Nords reaction, but he did not want to wait around to find out.

=A group of Nords stopped the Altmer=

N1- Hey! Where do you think you're going, Altmer?

=The Knight turns to face the Nord, and puts his hand on his sword's hilt, ready to chop off the Nord's=

Sensing conflict was unavoidable, Gnaeus straightened his back, bring him self to his full height. He looked down upon the nords and stretched his massive muscles. Gnaeus was more than capable of taking on a bunch of unarmed nords. He glares at the Nord standing before him.


*it should be noted that Gnaeus is wearing ragged trousers and boots, no shirt or gloves.

=The Knight looked impressed at the Altmer. He thought to himself that it would be unwise to underestimate the combat capability of any Healers he met in travels yet to come. He was about to walk over to the crowd of Nords, when the back of his helmet was struck by a Cast Iron Pot. He staggered, and slowly regained his senses. He stood again, drew his sword, and put it to the throat of the attacking Nord=

?- Get out. Now.

The nords attacked Gnaeus, but they were in for a surprise. Gnaeus took their pummels and palmed a nord's head and lifted the man off his feet. When the nord was eye-level with him he kicked him in chest and sent him flying into the wall. The next Nord received a powerful backhand that spun him around and into the bar, stunning him. The third nord continued to beat on Gnaeus, eventually tiring himself out. Gnaeus grabbed the man by his throat and lifted him off his feet.

=The defeated Nords quickly scurried out with angry looks on their faces=

They'll return later, no doubt...

I hurried my pace, finding myself at a full run to get to the flaming person. I didn't care whether or not it heard me. After all its only fire.
I just wanted to know what that was.

Seeing the nords flee, he dropped the one in his grip. He was breathing harder than usual, but not heavily as one normally expects from combat. He looked to Soline with apologetic eyes, he was not a violent man and he felt bad for being apart of the violence within the tavern. The tavern returned to it's normal din, brawls were not exactly uncommon among the nordic folk.

=wonders why the mage would use magicka like that but shrugs=

Gnaeus headed back to his room, limping up the stairs and using his right arm to support himself. In his room he sat upon the bed and breathed in deeply. He let the fatigue creep up on him, bruises began to appear, discoloring much of the left side of his torso. The mage-armor spell had worn off too soon, as he lost concentration in the fight. Soline would be worried, she will come up to see him, wanting to help him in some way. For now he was alone.

=After the little skirmish, the Knight sheathed his sword and went over to the bartender=

?- Hey, who was that Altmer?

The Armored one spoke to Soline.

Soline: "That's Gnaeus, he works in Embardshard mine for the Ironhand Brothers. He's been working there since I inherited the Tavern. He's a real sweet-heart, but don't try talking to him, he can't really speak."

Hmm. That's a bit strange. Why can't he speak?

Soline furrowed her brow.

"I'm not really sure, I've heard rumors of course, but - I don't know."

?- Alright. Well, anyways. Tell him I sa-

=A voice shouted from outside=

N1- HEY ALTMER! WHY DONT YOU GET OUT HERE AND FIGHT US AGAIN!

=The Knight signed and went over to a window to look out. About 20 Nords armed with Torches, Swords, and Axes=

?- Hey Barkeep. You might want to take a look at this.

Soline follows the Knight and beholds the nordic mob outside her tavern.

"Oh no..." Her voice carried the weight of sorrow and despair.
Soline turns to one of the tavern wenches, "Jorla, get the guard!"
Turning to the knight, "Can you do something about this?"

=He turned to the bartender=

?- I'll be damned if I'm not going to try.

=He stood up straight, and walked towards the door. He stepped out to face the mob, who immediately began shouting taunts and insults. He drew his Sword and Shield, and got to one knee. He bowed his head at the hilt of his sword, and whispered a prayer=

?- Gods, grant me strength... Akatosh, Dibella, Zenithar, Mara, Stendarr, Kynareth, Julianos, Arkay, Talos, N- ...No...

=He stood and faced the Nords=

?- Ready when you are.
