ESRP Chapter One

Soline went up to see Gnaeus, as he thought she would. By the time she knocked on his door, he had already healed himself of his injuries. He looked at her, with his white eyes and saw that she was deeply trouble. He furrowed his brow and gave a questioning look.

"There's a mob outside shouting for you."

His expression changed from questioning to confused.

What, why? this has never happened before...

=The first Nord charged at the Knight, and received a swift Shield to the face. Three more came at once. He bashed the first one with his shield, blocked an Axe blow from the second, and slashed the back of the third's leg right behind his knee before kicking him away. The second Nord came back for another swing, and was slapped hard across the face by the Knight's sword=

?- Come on! I haven't got all night!

Jarla, the Tavern wench, had gone out the back of the tavern to warn the guard, they would arrive soon to quell the uprising.

Gnaeus walked to the window of the second floor.

=One of the Nords pointed out the Altmer on the second floor and shouted. Suddenly, a dozen or more Torches were flung into the air and landed on the Tavern roof. It quickly caught fire. The Knight looked back at it and nearly shouted in Anger. He turned back to the crowd of Nords and charged in. Luckily, his Armor stopped most of their blows as he used his sword to slash and cut, leaving the Nords disabled or yielding. One simply would not cease, and so the Knight regretfully swiped his sword across his stomach and spilled his guts onto the ground. He turned back to the Tavern again and rushed back in the door=

?- It should be safe now! Everyone out, quickly!

The Tavern patrons ran out into the street, fleeing the burning building. Soline was among them, Gnaeus was not.

=The Knight watched as the people fled, but did not see the Altmer pass. He looked around frantically, searching for where he could be. He checked every room on the first floor, then headed to the second. He came to a stuck door, and bashed it with his sword's hilt to get it open. He saw the Altmer inside=

?- What are you waiting for? Come on!

=see's a fire burning in helgen=

great was hoping to have a peaceful trip

Gnaeus looked at the Knight. He was not afraid of the fire. As the Tavern burned, he walked over to the chest of iron and lifted it onto his shoulder.

=He looked impressed at the Altmer=

Well, youre a Strong one, arent y-

=He heard what sounded like a loud Thud outside=

Oh, what now!?

Gnaeus Pushes the Knight towards the door as he walks toward it. Fire is not the biggest threat in a building burning to the ground.

=The Knight allowed himself to be pushed before turning around and exiting the room. He headed down the stairs and outside to make sure everyone was alright. That's when he saw something that caught him totally off guard, but was probably the source of the Thud. The folk who had left the Tavern had run to greet a Newcomer, and ask him for help. The Knight was totally confused=

The smell of fire invades my nose as I continue down the road. I see the smoke in the sky and it looks to be nearby.
Emergency fills me, overwhelming my curiousity. I run even faster now.

With rain still pouring from the sky, Gnaeus leaves the premises of the now burning Tavern. The clouds above flashed while the crashing of thunder soon followed. The smell of burning wood and wet soil filled Gnaeus' nostrils. The horses in the nearby stables were cut loose to be save from the flame, the cart was now obstructing the road.

Gnaeus regarded the giant in front of him as he calmly walked out of the burning tavern. It's braided beard and tribal tattoos revealed what he was, the fur apparel revealed he was the giant who traded with the common folk.

=The Giant, apparently called Teniya, walked over to the burning Tavern with great strides. He removed his small (relative to his size) waterpouch and began to empty it onto the roof. The fires resisted, but not for long. Soon enough, it was out. He went back over to where he entered the small town-outpost, where a huge bag of what smelled like Cheese of some sort lie on the ground. He seemed to have a quick sign-language conversation with a few of the guards before leaving with three cows, each tethered to his belt. The Guards brought the bag over to the Watchtower to keep it dry from the rain. The Knight looked very, very confused=


?- What in all the hells was That?

Gnaeus brought the chest of iron to the wagon. He grunted as he placed it in the back. He managed to round up one of the horses, he tethered it to the wagon, he wouldn't be able to ride on the carriage if he only had one horse.

=The Giant headed south of Helgen along the roads, passing by a Wizard, an Assassin, a Merchant, and some others on his way back to his camp. He gave them no trouble. The Wizard arrived at the gate to Helgan and looked at the Assassin=

A- We should probably stay the night at the Inn. Better to be well-rested for the journey ahead.

=walks past the pair heads through the gate with no trouble due to the gaurds having been distracted by the fire=

Gnaeus looked around, he knew Soline had a home in Helgen that wasn't attached to the Tavern. He began to look for her. Guards were walking about, asking about what had happened. Once they figured out what happened, the captain of the guard began issuing arrest warrants. Some of the Nords who had caused the fire were arrested, some of the ones from the initial group were among them. Brawls were typical, and so the fight between the nords and Gnaeus were dismissed. Tavern brawls, only in Skyrim. As the rain fell, and puddles formed in the streets, Gnaeus maneuvered the carriage to the far side of town, to Soline's old home, the home before the Tavern. Some began cleaning up the burned tavern, the damage was extensive: the roof would have to be replaced, the rooms refurnished, some of the support beams would have be taken out and new ones added. It would cost quite a bit to repair it.

I went past several people, one included who looked like a mage. Which I guess explains the strange fire humanoid earlier.
By the time I got to the burning building the fire was already out. And it just so happens to be the tavern/inn.
A place I would've liked to sleep in tonight. Looks like I'll have to find somewhere else to sleep.

I look at the wizard and then point to the tower of smoke.

What's the bet that was the inn?

=He looks up at the smoke=

A- 20 Septims says that's exactly what it was... Honestly, I hope I'm wrong.

I'm not even taking that bet. I know what mage luck is like.

I sigh and go to walk through the open gates. The guards gave me a half glance, but let me continue

=At Soline's house=

"Well, that's just stupid. The nords burnt down the only tavern in town, which not only means that travelers have no place to stay but that we won't have a place to drink until it's rebuilt!"

"Bah, they weren't even local nords, most of the lot of them are from Cyrodiil, don't even remember the Old Ways."

"It's a good thing most of them have been locked up, the townsfolk are pretty upset."

"Did we lose anyone in the fire?"

"Yes, unfortunately, the men who started the fire are going to be hanged on the morrow."

"Who was it?"

"Maro, the poor bastard."

"Maro? The Alchemists' son?"

"The very same."

"Oh that poor sod, His father just got back from Solitude this morning."

"Such a shame, he was a good kid."

"Aye, he was."

"Good thing that giant put out the fire before it spread though, quite a few houses would've burned with the Tavern if not for 'im."

"Yeah, Teniya, I think? Yaniya? Yunaya? Whatever its name is."

"Haha, wait, only the roof and upper level were burned in the fire..."

"Really? Oh... huh"

"Yeah..."

Soline enters the house.

"Hey Soline, how bad is it?"

Soline, "The fire could've been worse. Only the second floor was burned, part of which fell onto poor Maro, he wasn't even in the Tavern! Just outside, and part of it fell on him..."

"Oh gods..."

=He and the assassin enter Helgen, and immediately the wizard noticed the burned tavern. He looked very grumpy=

A- Well.... What now?
