ESRP Chapter One

=The voice came from all around. It laughed in a sly and mocking way=

Hmm hmm hmm. I thought Khajiits had excellent night vision. Guess I was wrong.

I was slightly afraid, not knowing what this was.

"What are you? Daedra?"

I shouted louder than was wise, but I was less afraid of the dungeons than I was of... whatever this was.

=The voice seemed to come from directly behind the Khajiit, as if the voice were whispering in her ear=

I'm all of your nightmares...

I span around, swinging the daggers to where the voice had came from, more in panic than any attempt to attack.

"Get away from me!"

=The voice came from behind again=

You'll have to be a lot faster than that to catch me, pretty kitty.

=It laughed again, condescendingly=

I attempted to stab whatever this thing was again, putting most of my effort into the swing.

"What do you want?!"

=The laughing continued and slowly faded away=

Remember, kitty. I'm watching... Always...

I scan the area again, looking for anything that moved.

"Answer me!"

=Silence befell the forest around the Khajiit, no more voices to be heard, not even the sound of breathing. Except, in the short distance. A dim light coming from behind a rock, and the sound of two voices=

I looked at the light, and crept through the darkness, headed towards it, half expecting to find whatever had been tormenting me there.

=The voices became louder and more distinct as the Khajiit drew near. What sounded like Laughing, and perhaps talk of Magic=

I stopped, hiding behind the rock, listening intently to the conversation, hoping to glean some information before I confronted the voices.

=The voices were now clear and distinct=

?- You should have seen the look on her face with that one!

=The voices shared a hysterical laugh=

?- But that's not even the best part-

I felt anger rising in me. I surpessed a hiss and tightened my grip on the daggers, continuing to listen.

?- Do go on!

?- When she turned around, there was nothing there! Vanished! Gone!

=They laughed again=

?- She was so angry, you'd have thought her very blood were about to boil over!

=They laughed again. By the sound, it could be determined that they found the story absolutely hilarious=

That was it. I wasn't going to be mocked. I suppose I could have the final laugh, however.

I called upon my birthsign, turning invisible and crept into the camp.

=Behind the rock was a small cave, large enough to make camp in, but not large enough for much more than that. It was only about the size of a room, and the ceiling was low enough that anyone but an Bosmer would need to stoop. Inside were an Altmer and a figure in full armor sitting around a fire=

?- What happened next?

?- Oh, she ran off, probably to go fetch someone to help. But I didnt care, I was long gone by then.

=They shared another laugh=

I scowled, angered by their laugh. I pulled a bottle of oil I'd stolen for no apparent reason other than to steal it.

Have fun... bastards.

I raised my arm and threw the glass bottle next to the fire, shattering it, sending the oil into the fire and towards the figures.

I rolled away from the cave as soon as the bottle left my hand, preferring not to get burned.

=As soon as the bottle broke, the fire engulfed the cave in a flash for an instant. The armored one remained relatively unscathed, protected by the thick steel, but the Altmer did sustain minor burns, as he was not quick enough to raise a Ward. Dazed, he rose Frost Cloak on himself and ran out of the cave with the armored one. The Altmer readied two spells, and the Armored one drew a sword and shield. They both looked around for wherever the attacker could be=

?- Show yourself, coward!

?- Stay and fight!

I moved away from the cave, intending to lure them out.

"A similar thing was said to you but you did not oblige."

=The Altmer looked around, squinting to try to see through the veil of Night. He saw a figure in the shadows=

A- There!

=He fired a bolt of Lightning towards it, lightning up the area for an instant. The armored one quickly gave chase towards the figure=

I rolled away from the lightning bolt, and began to run from the armoured one, easily outrunning them due to the spacing of the trees and the bulk of his or her armour.

"Catch the kitty!" I called out mockingly.

=Suddenly, out of seemingly nowhere, a log appeared right under the Khajiit's feet, tripping her up and giving the Armored One just enough time to catch up. He grabbed her by the neck and put the tip of his sword to her throat=

?- Who are you!? What do you want!?

I glare at the warrior, spitting in his eye through the small hole in his helmet.

=The armored one simply glared back, and presses his sword a little harder into her throat=

?- I don't want to kill you, but I will. Tell me where you came from. What do you want with us?

=The mage caught up, two Storm Atronachs in tow. He stood beside the armored one=

?- Find anything out yet, Din?

D- Nothing yet.
