Chapter 1 part 2

(Arrun)
=i patted myself down, making sure everything was there=

-Arma? You ready?-

--As ready as I can be, being an arm blade and all--

A- Goodgood. Then let us depart.

=Araedyr made a farewell gesture to Dyskt as he turned and walked out of the home. Xazhi followed him out=

(Arrun)
=i followed along, keeping Arma folded against my arm=
So, how far are we going?

(Nerim)
=i took out my canteen-type thing and took a swig from the water that was inside it. It was better than nothing, but that didn't mean it had to taste good=

=keeps silent while they're walking=

=They set off down the busy street, passing shops, homes, businesses, gatherings, and many Skarrn who gave looks of varying emotion to the outsiders. They turned down another street and continued on that way. It was dim, but not enough so that an overworlder wouldnt be able to see=

A- Ten miles, maybe. And we won't be walking most of the way.

(Arrun)
=i raised an eyebrow behind my mask=
Then how will we be getting there, if not be walking?

=Araedyr smirked slightly=

A- We told you that the our kind have mastered arts beyond your overworld's comprehension. We travel by machine, not the wooden horse-drawn things you use. Our machines are Iron, and Lightning-powered!

=Xazhi looked totally confused=

X- Lightning? Like, Magic? How does Magic make anything work?

A- You will see, overworlder.

(Arrun)
Huh. Guess humans could learn a thing or two from you.

=The street got darker and darker the further they went=

A- Perhaps some day.

=They eventually come to the end of the street, which is a Wooden platform of sorts in front of a wide, low section of tunnel, perpendicular to the road they were on, with Iron bars on the top and bottom. Araedyr looked both ways down the tunnel, and listened close. He could faintly hear the rattle of metal, and the sound of arcing lightning, growing louder and louder=

A- They approach.

=There was a loud screech as what looked almost like a wooden egg with windows on the sides pulled up along the tracks, slowing to a stop at the platform. A door opened, and several Skarrn, mostly warriors by the look of them, departed from the contraption. Araedyr stepped forward, through the door. Xazhi looked at the Romanii with an expression of utter confusion, hidden by his mask. He shrugged and followed the Skarrn aboard=

=i looked back at Xazhi and shrugged as well. I got in behind him, and waited=

The city gates drew closer. I made sure my hood was up and my face mostly covered. We stopped and a guard approached us.

"Name? Contents?"

He sounded quite bored. After getting the information he needed from the guy, he went around the back and poked through the cabbages a little. He gave a clear shout to the guards then walked up next to me.

"I didn't catch your name?"

I don't have one to give.

He looks me up and down for a few minutes.

"What's your business here?"

I'm simply a traveller, looking for somewhere to stay.

He takes a deep breath in then backs away and waves us through. That was a little too close.

=The inside of the wooden contraption was lit by a single lantern hanging from the ceiling in the center. At the front, there was a seat coming forth from the wall in front of what looked to be a desk with a lever on it. At this desk sat a Skarrn garbed in red. Once wall were aboard, he pulled another lever that came forth from the floor, closing the door. Araedyr and Xazhi sat down on the benches at either side of the carriage. The Skarrn at the front pushed the desk-lever forwards, and there was a sudden jolt. The thing began to move forwards, slowly picking up speed until it hit roughly twice that of a horse at full gallop. Every so often, there was a screech as the vehicle bumped around on its rails=

=i sit down on one of the nearby seats and hold on as the thing starts to move=
What is all hell is this thing?

I watch in... whatever the hell it is when you want or work for something badly, as a sproutling grew up from the ground.

Halfway there!

A- This is one of the many machines we build. A carriage pulled not by horses, but Lightning.

How in the fuck does this work?

=i was scared, sue me=

(Nerim)
=i watched Jisr work, and called up some effort to fling some water droplets at him=

A- It would take far too long to explain to an overworlder like you. Suffice to say, it rides the lightning.

=They passed a sign that was afixed to the tunnel wall=




A- Ah, we're getting close to our stop.

=Xazhi looked totally confused at all of this=

(Arrun)
It doesn't seem like it was that far of a ride.

I stop doing what it is I'm doing. My head was hurting and I need a little rest. Or at least a small timeout.

"You would've thought right? Growing grapes..."

A- You must consider how quickly we move.

X- And how quickly is that?

A- Just over twice the speed of a horse.

=Xazhi looked impressed by this=
