ESRP Chapter One

I down some more whiskey and enjoy the buzz.

"I like it! Short, simple, and sweet. But I ment leading up to the cornering.."

I sat up, looking at the group walking towards the cart.

"Hello?"

The Highwaymen laugh, "Hand over your valuables and your gold and we'll let you by!" The group laugh again.

"I'm afraid we can't do that, now if you could just let us pass..."

I found myself searching for my dagger, which it seemed, I had misplaced.

"Leading up to the cornering we find it. It shouldn't be too hard, how often does a giant were-creature pass by?"

The Highwaymen approached, some bearing murderous smiles upon their faces, others with solemn committed looks. Gnaeus shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

A- We are well on supplies for the time being.

=The carriage started off down the road. The Armored one remained totally silent while they rode=

"Alrighty. Just tell me when we head out."

I take another swig, I noticed I was getting a little drunk, but it was nothing I couldn't handle

"How about I give you some gold, and you move along? That sounds like more than a fair dear."

I didn't know what to do really. I hadn't really bumped into much trouble while in Skyrim, so this was a 'unique' experience, so to say.

"A little gold? We know that you've got more than gold with you. Gold isn't enough.." The Highway men begin to surround the cart.

=The cart comes to a fork in the road and turns South. It hits a few rocks, which bump the carriage around a bit, but do no harm. The Mage does not say a word=



=There was a slight rustling in the bushes near the Highwaymen=

"I assure you, the amount of gold I can give you will be plenty."

I was just trying to buy time here, and I did not believe it was working at all.

=The bushes rustled again behind the Highwaymen, and a shadowy figure darted through the trees, gone from sight before any could even take notice=

Gnaeus puts his hands in his lap, holding the reins. Watching the the leader of the Highwaymen. Or at least, this groups' leader.

"you know, you could always take the woodcutters axe and kill them, Gnaeus." cooed a voice in Gnaeus' head.
Gnaeus averts his gaze fro the highwayman.

"Alright!" shouted the leader, "Lets claim our prize boys!" The highwaymen try to pull the two from the cart.

=There is another, more violent rustling in the leaves. In the blink of an eye, the Highwaymen drop, blood spurting and gushing from their throats and chests with seemingly no trace of any attacker. The wounds were far too big to be inflicted by an Arrow of any kind=

One moment I was being pulled off of the cart by these 'brutes', as my mother would call them, and in the next they are... Well, they have passed on. But how? What had happened? Had the Divines intervened, even how illogical that sounded, it could have been a possibility.

"That was... Quite shocking."

Gnaeus sat in the cart, with his mouth hanging in shock. Unseen forces at work.

what was hiding in the bushes? I don't I want to know, I'm neither prepared to find out nor equipped to deal with such a beast.

Gnaeus pulls the breton woman back down to her seat, and sets the cart back into motion. leaving behind a circle of bloodied corpses.

=A laugh came from the woods on the opposite side of the road from where the rustling came. A figure with a large dagger dropped down from his seat on a treebranch. He walked over to the dead Highwaymen and inspected them. Indeed, they had passed. He dragged two of them back into the woods without a word, and was not seen again=

I relaxed back into my seat on the cart, hoping the rest of this journey would be not so 'exciting'. I thought I heard something. What it was, I couldn't figure out, but I simply dismissed it.

Gnaeus puts a gentle hand on the womans' shoulder. Hoping that his unspoken question of her well-being would be answered.

=buys a horse from someone and sets off to the next place and after getting to a crossroad decides to head south after deciding it's be more likely to have what i'm looking for=

I felt the Altmer's hand on my shoulder, I assumed he meant something such as 'are you OK?'. But, that was just my view on it, so it could have meant something else completely.

"I'm fine, thank you."

A few hours passed, and as the trees seemed to die away, becoming more and more sparse as they travelled along the road, an estate came into view. It was large to be seen from this distance.
