Chapter 1 part 2

Are there any other lights around? I can barely see.

D- No! No light-fires. Bright enough once to City.

If you say so. I would just like to be able to see enough to not need my hands.

=Eventually they come to a large Iron door. Dyskt speaks to one of its three guards, and they open the door. There are some loud Clanks as the giant tumblers move out of place, and the door opens. It reveals a sort of camp-like village inside, just beyond an archway with soldiers on top of it, and soldiers standing just in front. They stop at the arch=

D- Here-here. This the village.

=i drop my arms and look around, able to see thanks to the various light sources=
Wow...

=Dyskt walks up to one of the soldiers in front of the Arch=

D- Araedyr, K'tsk dksn tikk'kt nkssn tsn dkth, hmm?

A- Sk, Dyskt. Ksttkn ndt sstn kt.

=Dyskt turns back to the group=

D- We may proceed.

X- I wonder what that strange language is...

Well, lead the way. This is your home.

=Dyskt and the one apparently called Araedyr walked through the archway and into the camp. There were many buildings, both carved into the sides of the cave, and built out of what seemed to be some kind of Metal, and some of Stone. The main sources of light were torches, which were outside every building. The road was a surprisingly smooth Cobblestone. Every now and again there was a group of Skarrn sitting around a campfire off on one side of the road. For Ratfolk, their 'town' was very clean. Some of them glared at the outsiders as they passed, but Araedyr and Dyskt told them off with a word or two. They neared the home of Dyskt=

X- This place is Amazing... And all of it is Underground, right beneath our noses. How far do these tunnels go?

D- All under every continent, tunnels everywhere. Cities, too.

This is an amazing work of construction. Having carved out all this rock and dirt...I can't imagine how long it took.

D- No. We must exit tunnels on shore and sailsail across the Oceans.

X- Hmm. It's a wonder you've never been spotted before.

That's still one hell of an engineering feat. Enough to rival the humans.

A- The Humans can't come close to our Machines.

=Dyskt opened the door to the house and let everyone in=

X- Machines? That's not a word we have on the surface.

What do you mean, they can't come close to yours?

A- Human technology is nowhere close to as advanced as ours. They have Muskets, yes, and they have some basic understanding of mechanics, but we? We have true Machines! Huge devices that run on Lightning Power.

X- That sounds amazing. What can they do?

D- What can't they?

Can they chew cowhides and walk and talk at the same time?

=Araedyr sat on one of the couches in the small one-room home and motioned for the others to sit. Dyskt went over to the hearth and got a small fire going. Araedyr heard the Romanii's question=

A- Why would-

D- Ktn't

A- Ks. Anyway, we could probably make such a machine, if we thought it would be in some way useful.
