I change my tactic and close my eyes again, removing my hands to tear a thin strip of dark cloth from the arm of my jacket. I tie that around my eyes and open them. It worked. The sun was still bright, but it didn't hurt anymore and at least i could see.

6 hours.

I correct him. Maybe it was something to do with never having seen the sun, and having to keep track of the cycle without that help, but i had always had a knack at guessing when the cycle was changing and the sun or the moon was setting.
